Random FPS Drops

So I recently saw Ward's topic on mods to increase FPS, and I downloaded the one everyone was recommending (Chris' mod or something)

Installed in correctly, TF2 works, but ever since installing it my FPS randomly drops and my TF2 randomly freezes

The drops arent a big deal since I get enough frames that it just seems like slow motion for half a second, but ever 5 secs or so my TF2 will freeze for an incredibly short period of time (like 0.1-0.2 secs) (it just kinda stutters around)

It's really annoying, but I'd prefer to keep the mod as anything is better than running at 10-15

cant stahp wont stahp (I could either play like crap at 12 fps or a little above average at 40-60, so i gots to mod)

Check cache integrity. Disable -novid startup on Linux (at least I get OpenGL not responding on Fedora + Gnome message when enabling -novid).
