Any 144 hz with 24 inch of size at least would be good, I would recommend the samsung shg50, gaming monitor.

hey wolf! glad to see u posting

https://www.centrecom.com.au (it will take it to it, i just shortened the text)

Found this as the cheapest au one at just below my budget (379).. though the site says its 25", googling it says its 24.5, but whatever, rounded and its still .5 inches bigger then my current.

144hz is very nice, as mine is probably only 60.

Also with freesync mmmm @AwesomeMcCoolName dunno if you're into monitors but this seems pretty good, and its samsung

Exactly $399. 24" and inbuilt speakers which are nice.

144hz

Looks possible a bit of a thicker border then the wolf one.

No freesync

Though i do get $30 gift card if i buy it before 31st of december lmao

--------------------------------------------------

Both same brightness and response time....

Leaning towards the samsung as it has freesync and I think i'd prefer that over speakers, plus $20 cheaper.

Hopefully Awesome can provide some input.

Freesync doesn't do anything with an Nvidia GPU, so it's not the biggest deal right now (although looking forward it could be a detriment).

Response time is pretty meaningless since there is no consistent way of measuring it. The speakers built into monitors are all pretty terrible. Just try and find reviews for both and see how they compare/which suits your needs/preferences better.

Wow i just checked pcpartpicker for the cheapest 144hz monitor, it was $189 and i was like damn may as well just do that

Realised i was on US

change to aus and the cheapest is 349, next is the VG248QE lmao

So if we convert that, americas cheapest is $251 aud, and ours is $349 AUD

Living in Aus sucks for stuff like this :(

(also what do u mean by the detriment?)

Just gonna say Im a glad customer for the monitor. You can adjust the brightness and stuff itself with the power button of the monitor, pretty cool.

well i currently have a Dell U2410 (60hz, was set at 59 hz)

Which seems to be at $300 brand new somehow.

It's got a very thick border irltho (measured about 1 inch border) for the monitors i've seen anyway

But worth the upgrade? The only thing that'll be missing is the USB ports on the side, but I don't even use them and didn't know they were there until i googled this monitor RN

If you upgrade to an AMD GPU in the future before you replace the monitor then Freesync would be nice to have.

@AwesomeMcCoolName

I'd personally keep the U2410, but I prefer IPS over high refresh rate.

Thinking of getting this

http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/agon-ag322fcx-31.5-144hz-freesync-gaming-monitor/AG322FCX

Curved, 144hz, freesync, 31.5" 2560 x 1440 . Only $478 AUD ($366 USD) and the other features on it... tho it does have a 4ms response time...

http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/agon-freesync-ag271qx-27-144hz-gaming-monitor/AG271QX

Or this, not curved, but 144hz, 27" $619 (475 USD), 1ms, freesync 2560 x 1440

Thoughts?

Never heard of Agon, but I think it's the same as AOC? Either way, I can't speak much about either -- just look up reviews. But from a quick look, the 31.5" looks better as it's bigger and has a better panel (VA instead of TN). Response times are basically irrelevant.

Looking at reviews, http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2562465

Its only 1920x1080 and people are saying that 1080p wont look good on a 31.5" monitor let alone a 27"

For some reason it lists the 2560x1440 i said on pcpartpicker https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/VQX2FT/aoc-agon-ag322qcx-315-2560x1440-144hz-monitor-ag322qcx but on the selling websites i found its only 1080p....

This one has 264 reviews with a 4.8 star average tho https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/rkphP6/asus-monitor-vg248qe

ASUS, 24"  1920x1080, 144hz, speakers, 1ms, also some other cool colour features on the selling page here http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-vg248qe-24-144hz-3d-gaming-monitor/VG248QE

Thoughts @AwesomeMcCoolName ?

And maybe @Wolf#Peace lel

Honestly, both 1440p and 1080p look kind of meh on such large scales. If Windows scaling didn't suck and I had a more powerful GPU and wanted to spend the money, then I'd upgrade to a 24" 4k monitor in a heartbeat. Anyway, that's kind of besides the point. I personally think the better colors of a VA panel outweighs the pixel density -- but to each their own.

Your choices are really all over the place, 31.5" 144hz 1080p, 27" 144hz 1440p, and 24" 144hz 1080p.....decide what your priority is and then go with whatever that priority is. Do you want a giant screen? Do you want the better colors of an IPS/VA panel? Do you want a higher pixel density? Do you want something curved? Do you care about freesync (right now you can't use it, but in the future you might get an AMD gpu before you get a new monitor)?

Dont care about freesync cause i probably wont be using an AMD GPU at all (at a 1060 and ill be going to a 1080 in the future probably).

Curved isnt really necessary but it'd be cool but i really dont need it

I cant really have a screen bigger then 31.5 probably anyway as it wont fit my desk, i think 27" would be my preferred but im good for anything

Colors of an IPS/VA panel would be nice

Higher pixel density would be nice

I'll basically rank them for you and maybe you could help me find a good one. I want a 144hz one so thats pretty obvious to you, the other features of what you said rank:

1. 144hz

2. Color IPS/VA Panel

3. Higher resolution (more then 1920x1080)

4. Higher pixel density

5. Giant screen

6. Curved

7. Freesync

If you could help i'd really enjoy it! Thanks!

@AwesomeMcCoolName bump :C sorry just need ur help :/

Honestly I don't pay all that much attention to monitors, but most (basically all) the 144hz monitors on PCPP are good, so just pick the one that satisfies your wants best (keeping I/O in mind -- the XL2411z, for example, only has dual link dvi, which is basically gone/dying at this point).
