I meant as a way just like with the API, to get the data, and then to be able to use it in programs I could write.

Basicly, I want the Json of the data from the steam market.

I'm going to bump this. Having them in the api would make things much easier.

I know there is another request here, http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/1917-steam-market-api/. Sorry if this has been discussed more, but changing the forum search filter to allow me to search for 3-letter words like "api" would make things easier as well.

can you not do this through steam? eg: http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Mann%20Co.%20Supply%20Crate%20Key

if this is not what you are talking about please specify

What I and several other people are hoping for is one or more of the average/median/converted steam market prices (found here, http://backpack.tf/market) to be added to the IGetPrices API call (here, http://backpack.tf/api/). Just a market value inside the "current" price would be splendid.

The way backpack.tf tracks these prices is not perfect, there's probably better / more efficient methods of doing it. What we do is basically log http://steamcommunity.com/market/recentcompleted -- You can do the same, just scan that page every 5 seconds and make your own data. Or you can figure out a way to read the graphs for each item, and dump it daily, get a much better average based on the full range of data available.

There's no plan to provide an API for this, as this is not content created here -- as in, if you want that content you can generate it yourself just using the same technique we use here. It's like asking us to provide a way to read backpack data when it's available via the steam web api. It just doesn't make sense.
