2nd: Nuts'n'bolts is nice with some sets , so the worst is totally BUBBLING. fuck it's so ugly

Yup. The only thing it goes with is drably olive, and that paint only looks good with "Uranium" painted weapons. Then there's memory leak, which is passable because it's a "non-barf" shade of green.

Objectively speaking, the worst Unusual Effect is, was, and most likely forever shall be Massed Flies.

 

Yeah, I know some folks really like it, and I understand why to an extent. I used to own a Flies Pyromancer's Mask that I often times regret selling, nevertheless, it is the worst Effect because it's easily the most difficult to notice. You have to basically be standing right beside someone to see it, and considering that one of the primary features of Unusual Effects is to be eye-catching, that's obviously a huge downside.

 

It's not without its charm, and there is the argument to be made that more low-key Unusual Effects are desirable for those who which for something rare/fancy that doesn't draw so much attention that it makes you everyone's primary target, but still, it's less appealing because it's practically invisible unless you're standing in a well door t area of the map at point-blank range.

 

Other than that, I think that pretty much all Unusual Effects have their appeal, even Nuts n' Bolts is easy enough to spot that it serves its purpose, and themes nicely with practically any of the Engineer's Hats, unlike the whole Flies Sniper thing which always felt forced to me. I mean, it's entirely plausible that the Sniper might have a rather unpleasant odor, but there's nothing in the lore which explicitly states that the Sniper has poor personal hygiene or smells unpleasant, much less has it ever shown him surrounded by flies in the comics.

 

So yeah, as far as I'm concerned, Flies is really the only Effect that's unnoticeable enough to matter, after that, it just amounts to nitpicking and splitting hairs.
