dtn
the first one trying this with me was about 4 days ago... its a bit obvious, but it's incredibly dangerous and smart, if you dont pay attentionI saw 2 different topics about this new method, and one of them, an experienced trader, got scammed one of his unusuals, with the same scam method http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/10707-as-a-reminder-to-us-all-dont-be-ignorant/ the person insists to use a "trusty friend" of your choice to act as middlemanI thought weird at the first time, but I didnt know yet about this... I thought "Weird" since the first second, but I didnt now that was a scam attempt...HOW IT WORKS: the scammer uses an alt and fastly copycat your friend's profiles, after that, he adds you in a group chat with the fake account, and the impersonator get your stuff and bye bye ps: the guy has 0.0 hours played on tf2, but has 622 hours played on DotA
Seminal Inhalation
Obvious flaw: NOBODY would add you to trade if they in any way doubted your trust.
THE BOULDER
Isn't there a large flaw in this scam? i mean unless you don't message your friends, its pretty clear that it is a fake account trying to mimic your friends. Or am i missing something about how this alt copies it?

The point is that you're conversing with your friend and right when its time to give your friend the item the alt comes in a trades you before you trade your friend or before your friend gets a chance to trade you. Which is why, almost all middlemen will have YOU trade them. Very few mm trade you.

I suppose it has to work otherwise people wouldnt attempt to do it, i still cant believe that people fall for the "my friend wants to trade with you" scams with the steam community website spelled wrong.
