Quote Analysis: "Why did he choose you?"

Warning: Potential Kingdom Hearts 2 spoilers. If you're interested in the story and are playing/have not played Kingdom Hearts 2, there will be talk of the story. You have been warned.

A bit different from my other blog posts, I wanted to try analyzing quotes from video games and why they are so significant for the story of games.

Anyways, "Why did he choose you?" is a quote said by Roxas when he encounters Sora in the Station of Serenity after teleporting from The World That Never Was. Most people presumed that the "he" Roxas was talking about was DiZ or the keyblade itself, but these compare little to the true meaning of the mysterious he. Before entering The World That Never Was, Sora was blocked passage by a swarm of Nobodies that wouldn't let him pass, Axel, an Organization XIII member, went rogue and helped Sora by destroying all the Nobodies and clearing a passage for Sora to enter The World That Never Was. What is essential in Roxas' quote is that the mysterious he was indeed Axel, not someone else. Think of it as your best friend, the only one who cared for you in the world, killing himself or putting himself on the line of danger for someone else that you don't even know (or maybe even hate). Wouldn't you feel angered that someone you may not like was saved because your friend willingly sacrificed himself for them? This is what makes this quote so significant. Roxas was not present during the time Axel told Sora about Roxas and how he was waiting for him. Instead, Roxas wanted an answer on why Sora, out of all people, was the one Axel decided to sacrifice himself for and to see if Axel's sacrifice was in vain or if there really was a deeper meaning behind it, which there was.

Anyways, that's my quote analysis. I may do more of these in the future if I see a quote I really want to analyze.
