Explosion-chan
So I have an old laptop that started out with Windows 7 and I eventually switched it to Linux. Now I understand how to put Windows back on if I specifically had a copy of it, but I can't (or would prefer not to) afford a nww copy of Windows. I know a Windows 7 PC is able to upgrade for free to Windows 10 and I've heard somewhere that you can move a PC that used to have Windows 7 to Windows 10 for free even if it doesn't currently have Windows. Anyone have any info how to do this?

Haxor Gaming
You could buy a legit key from Kinguin.net. Its really good, it sells windows pro keys for 15 dollars.

Picked up my own key for $3 on a forum. AwesomeMcCoolName
AwesomeMcCoolName
Download the Windows 10 .iso and install Windows 10 using your Windows 7 license and see if it works -- it probably won't, but I've heard of a few cases where people never did the upgrade but still had their 7 license work for 10. Windows 10 also doesn't technically need to be activated. A non-activated version is fully functional but with a small watermark in the bottom right corner of the desktop. The alternative way to "free upgrade" was for people with disabilities, and I'm not sure if it's still working. You could also just run Windows 7.
