Barakuba
Hi, so here is the issue: I cannot use the steam application on my Macbook Air, which has the most up to date Mac software on it. Whenever I try to open the steam app, it tries to load for a few min before showing this message: I can connect to steam offline on the steam application, but can't access anything through this. I can also connect to steampowered on my browser, so I know it isn't a server or network issue. If anyone has any advice on how to fix this problem, it would be much appreciated. Thanks! Woifi The Viking
The network owner could have blocked the steam desktop app from connecting. Are you living in a dorm or did you try to connect in university/at your school? phenompak
McBro
That looks awfully similar to when I attempt loading Steam on my school provided macbook. The wifi there blocks the servers and provides that message. However, steam community loads normally in my web browser. It's very odd how it works but if this isn't your personal network then thats the issue. If it is your personal network you may need to work on your router / try fixing some network settings on firewall in System Preferences.

Thank you both for the responses, but I don't believe the network is the problem. It previously worked at both my home and school, but now works at neither. No changes have been made to my home network between my steam working and it not working. *Update* I have deleted all of steam local files from my computer (using option>go>app. support>steam) ---> I'm an idiot, I had a VPN running in the background, but it only showed as on once I clicked on the VPN app .
