Tf2pot / Tf2bet scam

So apparently after steam released a notice that they would be clamping down on tf2betting sites, the two websites, tf2bet.com and tf2pot.com gave notices that their bots were tradebanned and they are "trying" to talk to valve to give items back to the respective owners.

Just want to say, this is a big fat lie by Joel Karl and he basically scammed everyone of their deposits. If you want to file a steamrep report, this is his profile http://steamcommunity.com/id/joelkarl/ .

Why do i say he is scamming you guys is, this is his tf2bet bot before the items were all removed http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198340425462?time=1485388800. The account is not at all trade banned and he lied about it. He shifted out all the items and shut it down and told everyone it was trade banned so that they would not be able to withdraw, very much the same as what many csgo sites did. Furthermore these are the links to some of the alts where he shifted the stuff to.

2) http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198254147652(opskin bot, obviously looking to sell the stuff and not return them)

3) http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198074080874(Tony reins his trusty friend who sells stuff for him, although im pretty sure that it is actually just another alt of his)

4) http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198074197923

Thats all i could be bothered to find anyway, so i hope these helps some lost souls who lost alot on the site

Betting and gambling in such a non protected environnement is outright stupid. What better place for any fraud to scam unaware people out of their items. That kind of websites is also where shady people loved to launder their stolen goods.

Well is ONLY fault to gambler they have to not beting because is it almost 1 years valve  not allowed to use api for gambling website (Steam users to run a gambling business is not allowed by our API nor our user agreements. We are going to start sending notices to these sites requesting they cease operations through Steam, and further pursue the matter as necessary. ) everyone know that if peole continue to play even when isn't allowed i think is only fault to gambler (i think you need be really dumb to use website like that when valve not allowed it, even when sweetstakes.tf got closed)

It's the gambler's / user's fault for using outlawed services as to attempt to make money from gambling, even when Steam have announced that they aren't allowed to use their API for such things. Sure, it's also the owner of the gambling site's fault as well, however, by using such services, users were still actively depositing stuff into such shifty gambling websites and help thrived such a community.

By the way, have yet to see a report on JoelKarl's Steamrep or even a -trust rating.

Buddy, I want to first say that I've seen you betting. You lost a ton of money, and I think that's the reason this thread was made. I've used both sites, and I can confirm I have not been scammed. I once lost 20$ to an error, and due to me reporting it fast I got 30$ back in return. I can tell you it's no scam.

Lel i dont give much of a fuck about losing anything. This is not about him scamming people who gamble on the website per se, but its about him lying about the bots being tradebanned and that he cant return anyone items (ie. the people who still have credits on tf2pot.) So that in itself is a scam. Furthermore, you would not know if he scams by rigging the pots or anything unless you have the source code or are part of it. Its happened on csgo many times, just search phantomlord (scammed more than 100k), So if ure so naive to believe everything on the net is trustworthy, maybe you will be someones next target =)

Why the fuck would you trust a website that continues to operate even though it's been made clear that Valve is shutting down websites of its kind?

Seriously, what do you expect? Do you honestly expect that the kind of person to run this sort of operation -- fully knowing that what they're doing is being attacked by Valve -- to do so ethically? Fuck no. They were looking to gain as much profit as possible in as little time as possible, damn the consequences.

The fact that anyone actually trusted any of these websites is ludicrous to me. Of course they're scammers. That's what this kind of person does.

UPDATE:

Copy-paste from tf2bet.com:

We have had numerous people accusing us for faking a trade ban to have a reason to sell our whole withdraw. This is not true.

First of all, all our TF2Bet/TF2Pot accounts were silently trade banned and you cannot see the ban on the profiles. When you try to trade with them however, you can see that they are trade banned. We have linked the trade urls on the bot profiles so you can see for yourself.

A many noticed we stored items on some different accounts.
This was to secure the items, and an attempt to have extra stock if our withdraw got cleared, so our users always could withdraw.

In the end all our bots were banned instantly, we never had the time to let our users withdraw.

The accounts were banned. They aren't pulling a scam. Screenshots of me trying to trade with the bots:

Bot 1: http://i.imgur.com/qJzKIfS.png

Bot 2: http://i.imgur.com/3BTxHRH.png

Bot 3: http://i.imgur.com/6FlYty8.png

They have legitimate trade bans, no scam was pulled.

Valve also made a post about them banning TF2 Gambling bots/sites: http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=27111

There's a reason that people were able to withdraw their items from SweetStakes, and aren't able to withdraw them from these sites: SweetStakes wasn't playing chicken with Valve, risking its user's items in the process.

Running a site like this that you know has a high likelihood of being shut down and losing access to its users' items is extremely unethical.

Yepp, I've pointed this out to a few people, mainly on Reddit, who complain about Valve suddenly banning the bots giving people using the gambling sites no chance to withdraw their stuff.

Valve have done this countless times before and made their stance on gambling sites clear.

You should know that the bots might get banned, the use of bots for gambling sites and such is against the ToS after all, you should know that the site might suddenly get shutdown.

You use the site at your own risk, and complaining that Valve banned the bots without letting us know is quite silly in my opinion.

Only a few sites closed shop in their volition, like SweetStakes or the backpack.tf lotto.

Most other sites milked the most amount of money they possibly could before they had to shutdown or whatever.

Some sites, if not most, went so far to not even tell their users that they received a cease and desist letter from Valve, or that they knew they would have to close within the near future, keeping the site up to the very last hour they could keep it up before closing, just so they could get every single last drop of money, just so they could keep as many skins as possible.

Here is the Reddit thread I made earlier: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/5qquew

Some interesting discussion going on.

TIme to bring this thread to life again. All their bots have been unbanned and all if not most items withdrawn from them. Ez scam is ez.

So what if they're unbanned? If this is truly a scam, you seriously expect scammers to return their items back to you or something? Get real.

I checked the histories. Owners dumped them all on opskins. They are too scared of Geel I guess to put them on marketplace.
