Where do you think the US is headed in the next 4-8 years?

America has a Republican president, House, and Senate. The Clintons are basically done in the political field at this point; I believe it likely that Trump will call for a reopening of the investigation on her. Obamacare and the Iran Act are as good as gone.

That said, how do you think America (and the world) will change with President Trump? Will the loud-mouthed, temperamental Campaign Trump personality continue through his minimum 4 years in the Oval Office? Discuss.

Wowowow, relax a little bit would you not?

Even though he has the Senate and the HOP he might lose the majority in 2 years if he does not please the voters. Some of the republicans in the Senate and HOP don't even support Trump all that much, it might be unlikely to happen, but they could vote against the things he proposes.

You're all acting up. Hillary Clinton would not have been much better. Should've voted for a third party candidate in my opinion. That way third party candidates have more funds to the next election, which could then lead to them having more influence, ultimately leading to a more vast political spectrum.

I am European and cannot relate to America though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I [...] cannot relate to America though

Clearly; you just said something logical about politics. That's not how we do it here. We line up and shout at each other with our ears plugged.

Who knows, I legitimately thought either candidate, if elected, would get impeached some time in their term. Who knows maybe Trump will actually be impeached and all will be good in the world

I think everyone's over reacting, obviously it's not ideal to have someone like him running the country but a president's power is actually pretty limited

A direction I do not personally like. Geo politically, I don't think it's going to be all that much of a game changer. but on social issues it will set the US back in many social issues. In the past few years the US has made a lot of progress on these issues, which a lot of the republicans do not like. I'm talking about gay rights, affordable care. With a republican majority everywhere, including the supreme court and the general "member how everything used to be better" attitude of the campaign I fear regression.

And he does not believe in climate change, but the US is one of the biggest polluters and with Obama there finally seemed to be some progress with international treaties on reducing the effects of global warming, and I fear much of that can be undone by Trump and his administration. And he hates trade treaties, which is something the Dutch economy relies on quite heavily through trade with the US. Let's hope we don't get fucked over doubly, because 2 of our top 5 trade partners are the UK and the US who both want to revise/cancel our trade treaties.

The biggest problem will however be the insufferable complaining and shitty memes on the entire internet. But that's probably just because I'm Dutch and most of what he does won't affect me much

If so, it wouldn't be within the first 2 years, given the Republican majorities in the HoC and Senate.

The Supreme Court will also have a conservative majority while Trump remains President.

I totally agree with what you are saying here.     (I'm also Dutch)

I'm afraid of what may happen to the rights of those in the LGBT community, etc.

I've got friends that have broken down and cried because they believe their rights will be taken away and it's really sad to see.

An increase in violence, racial tensions, hate towards minorities, LGBT community, and reducing removing women's rights regarding their personal health, right to choose, among other things. It's going to be an absolute nightmare for the US, and if we aren't headed down a path to either civil war within 5 years or war with Iran/China/Mexico I'd be suprised. At 34 and married and about to start a family, this is no place I care to raise my children. I'll be getting my duel-citizenship to the EU soon and we'll be moving over as soon as possible.

Am I the only person who is relieved that the so well-known corrupted pro-islamic psychopath financed by goldman sachs, monsanto and saudi arabia has been defeated on 09/11 ?

Also, bye bye to World War III against Russia, free-trade agreements, WTO, NATO, etc.

I would have to disagree firstly on the purported violation of LGBT rights by Trump. While gay marriage was heavily opposed by the right, I would be extremely shocked if they tried to illegalize it once again. While the gay vote may not be significant enough for people like Trump to get to win an election right now (proved last night), in 4 years when Trump stands for a shot at Term 2 it may have a large increase in importance. Look at how far the gay movement has gone just in the last 4 years; if that trend continues Republicans may need them (not to mention keeping the Senate for Trump's entire term). Additionally, I don't think a woman's right to choose will be touched either; the right certainly needs the woman vote, if anything. Regarding racial tensions, Trump has openly supported reducing inner city violence many times, and he did gain much more of the black vote then he was expected to, so it's not like the black opposition to a Trump presidency is necessarily as bad as the media has made it out to be. The hate towards minorities that I often see people talk about is probably regarding Trump's admittedly extreme approach towards illegal immigration. The key word there of course, is illegal. Obviously the man doesn't hate Hispanics or Muslims, polls show that he just turned them off because of his extremist views on immigration. Additionally, while a lot of people talk about the wall, Trump isn't stupid. While he may start at the extreme of one side of a view (i.e. building a wall), that's just a tactic one can use to eventually meet a compromise. He might not get the wall and a  pesudo-lockdown on foreigners gaining citizenship, but he could settle for a compromise, say, better documenting immigrants and giving them a solid, legal path to citizenship. My view on it, put simply, is if he's intelligent enough to strategize a campaign to get him elected president with his now-famous lack of political experience, then he is intelligent enough to keep the peace but still build up to the things he says he will do (even if that means simply getting a cabinet that will control that Trump temperament and help him meet in the middle). That cabinet I talk about would likely also steer him in the right direction regarding trade agreements, which I saw some other people mention. He already has a solid view on Russian relations; which right there allows that 'keeping the peace' mentality to stand a bit taller. Besides, in the past couple of weeks we've seen an entirely different Trump from his earlier campaigning. He's a lot humbler and dignified now (I believe Fox and CNN pinpoint the time this personality shift started happening at right after he threatened to sue the women who allege that he groped them).
