Ultimately, the uneducated, naive people of this country won out

Polar, I hope you realize that a statement like this is exactly what pushed people into voting Trump. Rather than communicating and understanding their concerns, they are labelled as "uneducated" and "naive" by the "more educated".

Best summation of the reasons why he was elected, and why communication beyond 'this voter base is stupid' is so important, not merely in politics, but all social issues and discussion.

Exactly, this hyper liberal attitude of branding everyone with a different opinion as young, naive, stupid etc has gone from what it was (that is to say, hyperliberal) to the norm for the left. That's why the silent majority won, and that's why the Democrats have failed to stop this right wing revolution. Call people stupid for not siding with you long enough and they no longer have an incentive to do so.

What needed to be done was to patiently and peacefully teach Trump supporters why voting Trump is such a terrible idea.

this right wing revolution

Don't think it's really a right wing revolution. The "right wing" lost seats in the house, the senate, and in governorships. I think it speaks mostly to the issues people have with Hillary specifically.

Definitely not true. The issues people had with hillary were not hidden from pollers. The only thing hidden was the people who were told they were racists and sexists and had to wait until they were in the booth to express themselves. The guy in that video is completely right; what with all the outraged BLM, SJW, etc. creeping about the left have indeed lost the art of civilized political persuasion/discussion. You will not be able to convince anyone that is informed that that "silent majority" business is primarily due to Clinton's weaknesses (you were praising her policies as opposed to Trump's earlier, so I think that testifies to my point).

Not an issue with policies but an issue with her as a person.

You seemed to overlook those earlier in the thread as well; that's what my point is here. The left tends to overlook most of the weakness with each candidate they pick. While the right can do this to, it's always been a bit easier for the left to persuade people and overlook major flaws (personal and policy-based) because of their grip on the media. However, the majority of liberals (Not saying all liberals, please don't assume I'm calling anybody out) aren't actually persuading anymore, they're mostly just jumping back and being offended, for lack of better terminology.

Jumping back a bit in the thread; I'm not so sure anymore that Sanders would have beaten Trump. Sanders is a self-proclaimed socialist. He would have removed freedom of religion much quicker than Clinton would have. Now, this applies to everybody, whether or not you claim to be a part of a religion. When the right to worship religion gets taken away, then the only thing left the people 'worship' is the government. That's textbook socialism; hell, that's borderline communism. Anybody informed enough to know that (or have seen it personally with the USSR, China, etc.) would steer clear of Sanders and do anything they could to keep him out of office; even if they disagree with Trump's policies they would much rather have him then essentially put an end to the republic. At that point, you definitely can't make the argument that Trump would only get the 'younger, more naive' vote. In fact, Sanders would most likely get most of it; despite this, I believe a Trump victory would still be likely because in this situation, an overwhelming amount of the voters already out of college would vote Trump.

I would love for you to find even 1 legitimate source that states Sanders (or even Clinton) was planning on removing the freedom of religion. Not only did he never even come close to proposing this, but doing so would mean removing freedom of religion from the first amendment which would never happen in this Christian-dominated country. The other stuff you wrote is at least somewhat rooted in truths or can be argued, but this paragraph is literally you just talking out of your ass.

Secondly, Sanders is a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, and there is a difference. Besides, every modern democracy is partially socialist as it is.

I didn't claim it was based on a source; it was opinionated. Like it or not, a lot of things have been happening with executive orders and the like recently. I don't find it that hard to believe that if liberals dominated the country's political scene for a decade or two that it could happen down the line, and with Sanders I believe the gateway to that would open much more quickly. I think it's unrealistic to say it would never happen. This election proves that most anything can happen in the world of politics these days, does it not?  That's my opinion. Besides, who knows, maybe talking out of one's ass is the new trendy thing. If one broke it down to a cruder level, one could say that it worked for Trump. ;)

Liberals are not against freedom of religion, so I don't understand why that's your opinion, but sure.

I could name numerous cases where liberals generally oppose freedom of religion. Abortion and prayer in public schools are two cases where liberals oppose a side that argues freedom of religion as their standpoint. I'm not supporting either side of that argument (it's certainly not a debate for this thread), but it's easy to see that the paradigm for the left is to oppose freedom of religion as opposed to conservatives.

That's completely ignoring the fact that this is not an isolated thing. The US are not the only nation where the working man that has been called poor and uneducated for decades has stopped listening to those that claim they know better.

It's happening all across Europe as well, with the Front National, the PVV, AFD, FPÖ, Ukip etc. The general sense of fuck the establishment is all the same, and this has nothing to do with Hillary. That's not to say that nobody voted for Trump/didn't vote for the democratic candidate because they disliked Hillary but it is simply incorrect to say that there is no large swing to the right going on in the world. Which saddens and frightens me

The peoples are fed up of their corrupted elites, they want political leaders that understand their concerns and act in the interest of their own country and people. Nothing is saddening or frightening, it is how things normally work. In democracy, each country and people decide the future they want, not private interests to decide what is good for them. Hillary Clinton was the archetype of the corrupted establisment working for private/foreign interests (banks, saudia arabia, qatar).

I am not saddened and frightened by people wanting to fight corruption or fight against multinationalism, I have my own very serious doubts about EU integration and the consequences of many international treaties. What I fear is the serious parallels I see between this and the rise of nationalism and fascism in the 1930's, and I fear for what may come after. Fighting for the common, poor folk against the power of large businesses and the international elite is great, blaming it on foreigners/Muslims is worrying me. I seriously fear for the future of European cooperation and the stability of Europe as a whole if Le Pen becomes president of France which is not all that unlikely of a scenario. Already we have Orban in Hungary that is seriously threatening everything the EU stands for and constantly breaks the European constitution and rules/guidelines. With Brexit that would probably be the end of the European Union, and the peace and stability it brought. How is that not a valid cause for concern?

I am convinced a Marine Le Pen is far much better than François Hollande or Nicolas Sarkozy, that is my best voting option for May 2017. She is a patriot and would defend the interests of the french people. On the Islamic issue, the threat is located among people that refuse to consider the Islam as a problem for our identity, and particularly for what we call democracy. It has nothing to deal with racism, read the Q'ran or surates, chariah, these are the roots of Islam : it is a religion and political issue, not a racial issue. The frontier between moderate Islam and radical Islam isn't quite clear, even for the muslims themselves. In France, until recently, we managed to deal with muslims as a minority but it is getting worse everyday. Now, imagine how to deal with muslims as a majority in your own country. There is a choice of civilization, whether we accept or don't accept, to become muslim countries. As a muslim country, you accept that minorities will be treated as Islam always treated minorities.

I really don't care about the European Union which are corrupted institutions. I care about what is good for europeans and their countries. I like what Victor Orban does for his country, it is an example for other european countries to follow.

I'm happy Trump won, but not so much because I think Trump is great, but rather because I think Hillary is absolutely awful. So deceitful and such a crook! Also, her policy on abortion is just disgusting.

While Trump will undoubtedly cause a stir amongst particular groups such as Muslims and immigrants in general, I think he will also do some good for America.

Plus I'm conservative, so more republican influence is generally a good thing in my opinion.

Also, all these Clinton supporters crying because they lost is making me cringe hard, and the Twitter posts aren't better in anyway.

Oh, Like Trump's better, I heard that he was being sued/ was sued for the Trump University scandal, tenant intimidation, racial housing discrimination(although guilt wasn't admitted) etc.As for evidence: http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/10/donald-trump-scandals/474726/. Edit: Some of those cases have already happened.

Yes, he is better. I'm sure he has done some questionable things, but Hillary is just on another level.

Well ... I would have pointed of he's facing a lawsuit for pedophilia, but last I heard, because of death threads, the victim has dropped the case.

Well ... pedophilia does fall under "questional things"

(it's silly to assert he's better, if the best you got is "but he might not be a pedophile")

(and if you're gonna try to play the "innocent until proven guilty" card - note the criminal record of Hillary is quite clean)

Her criminal record is clean? Trump doesn't have the entire media on his site not to mention tons of friends at Capital Hill. ever notice that many of the people that publicly stand against the Clintons end up dead? Her criminal record is clean because they either cover it up or the FBI won't continue the investigation.

But aside from just her character, Hillary holds too many positions that just don't gel with me:

Relaxed laws concerning marijuana. Small red flag

Aggressive support for LGBT rights. Big red flag

Abortion. Colossal red flag

Feminism. Not sure exactly what she means by describing herself as a feminist, but it spells trouble.

I dont know all the policies of the two candidates, but thats just a few that I noticed. It basically just comes down to the fact that I dont side with liberal views.

But hey, I cant vote in US elections so who even cares :D

I would argue that restricting abortion is actually against freedom of religion, since the liberal view is to let individuals decide as opposed to forcing your religious views on others. But since this isn't really the focus of this thread I think it's best we just leave it here for now.
