λngelღмander
There has been a safe sitting in the closet by my front door for a long time now. I found the key to it about a week ago, but without the combination, the key was useless. The key has to be turned and the correct combination must be entered for it to open. The solution? Cut it open. It took about half an hour. The safe was actually a fire safe, and it was one thin layer of sheet metal surrounding about two inches of drywall, and past that another layer of thin fragile plastic. The sawzall cut through it like butter after I cut a hole in it with the die grinder. Inside the safe I found a black box and an envelope containing the deed to an old house: I blocked off my mother's name with the pen, I don't care if you see the address or not. Inside the black box... JACKPOT My father thinks the emeralds are real. The pearl necklace is definitely real. I think the diamonds are fake, and I don't know about any of the gold. I'm going to take it to a jewelers to have it all appraised sometime soon. Mengh., frozenthirdyear, =TNW= Maximus™ and 5 others

λngelღмander
On a serious note, what are you going to do with them if you know they're valuable? probably keep them, I don't need the money really. I do want to know what I've got. These are the last things my mother had, she sold most of her other stuff. MrDeepDarkmind
I'd rather keep it and not sell it because it's something to remember why they bought it Like I have a old karmann ghia in the backyard like it's a lot of cash but then I'd keep it because it's one of my favorite designs and even tho it costs a lot I'd still keep it because I like the 50s-80s car NotWarlizard

λngelღмander
A deed to an old house? Thats awesome. New home. When's the moving day? its the house I grew up in. The deed is from '94, you can see the date at the top left. We still own it, but it's a meh house with a lot of work needing to be done, pretty sure it's getting foreclosed. We moved out of there in like 2008, around the end of 4th grade for me.

NotWarlizard
This is awesome, so happy for you! Nice memories, that's for sure. One thing though....reddit has a real obsession over locked safes, make a post of finding it, then a day later of opening it...thousands of karma points. λngelღмander
I just I just got out of the jeweler's, the Jeweler priced them at roughly 3500 bucks. I think I'm going to keep them but this is a really awesome find, it's like my dreams have come true, my envy of all of those people opening safes and finding treasures is now my own experience! comfortable

Pilobacon
On a serious note, what are you going to do with the jewellery if you know they're valuable? Selling jewelry is just like trading! Regardless, gratz on the find whether or not you choose to sell the jewelry. λngelღмander

Tobiased
or commit some murders I doubt $3500 would be enough to hire a hitman, but y'know it's enough to make people look the other way if you decide to take matters in your own hands...
