[Pricecheck] Need a valuation for 1 of 1 limited Burning Flames Siberian Facehugger

I've been trying to sell my Siberian Facehugger for over a year now, and there has been no interest in it whatsoever, even though it is a Burning Flames unusual and it's 1 of 1, plus it can't be unboxed anymore.

Do people really hate Heavy unusuals that much?

Anyway, I'd like some valuations on this as it still does not have an estimated value on backpack.tf and I've only been guessing its value purely by rarity. Clearly it's not worth anywhere near 300 keys, so I'd like an accurate valuation please; I need to get most of my backpack sold for cash so I can put it to some actual use, like paying for college trips and solo vacations to see friends and whatnot.

The main reason you have had a hard time selling it is because it's unpriced. Unfortunately that can't be fixed until it sells again.

If i were you i would close that year-old Outpost trade, open a new one, and set the B/O around 200 keys. You should get more offers that way.

You're attitude and responses to some of your offers probably steer some people away as well.

Just looking at your most recent offer 5 months ago you stated:

"Even though it's not a first gen effect (as I clearly stated in the notes), I'll still think about this."

Then you continued with:

"Gonna be honest, I wouldn't touch this offer with a stick without a considerable amount of pure."

You started off a okay enough I suppose but that following comment where you basically insult the offer completely (Stormy 13th Hour Brown Bomber was a good offer too)

I would definitely remake the post so that its fresh and without comments which basically put you overpricing your unusual for a year. Your entire listing is pretty aggressive.

It's a heavy hat. No way near 300. B/O 200 but be willing to accept offers ~150 because that's a more realistic price tag

Stormy 13th Hour as an effect didn't really interest me, because it's related to 'that' other effect.

But yeah, at the time things were not going well in real life so I was just generally pissed off with everything, and that spilled into my interactions on here; doesn't excuse me for that, of course.

The odd thing I've noticed is that there are several Burning Flames Old Man's Frosts, and people are selling them for ~300. I kinda based my initial valuation from that, though I still don't understand why those sellers are valueing their Frosts at such a high price.

A few things:

  1. You should never be rude to potential buyers. Just because they don't "follow" your rules, doesn't mean that they don't have a valid offer. Also, even if their offer is bad, people with real offers will look at your snarky (if you will) comments and be deterred. ALWAYS be courteous.
  2. 300 is way too high. I'd do a b/o of 200 and look for offers ~175.
  3. You should be posting your hat EVERYWHERE: Bazaar, Outpost, Classies, Fourms, Servers, and even your own profile. Advertisement is key.

Thanks for the tips, Maximus, and thank you to everyone else for your suggestions. Obviously I'd like 200 keys but having ~150 that I can sell for cash will come in very handy.

Wish me luck. :)

Agree with others, this would probably fetch closer to 150 than 300.  Personally, I like the hat, which is why I use a strange scorching one, but it's definitely not very popular. Most of that is due to it being a heavy hat imo.

Another helpful hint would be to reduce the amount of content and color in your notes. No one really reads them anyways, so you want to keep it simple and straight to the point, with important information being prominent.

I don't understand the reluctance of people trading hoovy unusuals. I've always made out very well with them. Frostbite Rag, Morning Glory Rag, Burning Minnesota, a few luchadors... just to name a few highlights. At least one was unpriced if memory serves me correctly. Price point is the key. I always have gotten my asking price or better in a reasonably short amount of time. The burning minnesota slick I just sold, sold very quickly for over bp price. Got about 95 in an all-class 1st gen, an ausi + sweets. A reasonable amount for a burning flames, extremely nice, hoovy hat. Asking double that might not be achievable for the facehugger. I would tend to lean towards the 150 side of those who have commented here, but wouldn't be super surprised if you got 175 in unusuals in time.

With Scorching at ~125 (outdated and 4 exist tho), I'll agree with everybody with ~150 being realistic here, although you can get up to ~200 if you're patient since it's 1 of 1.

tfw when you realize this is a heavy hat... I always thought of it as a pyro hat  :P Maybe that's why the highest tier effects are just above 100 keys in price.

Since most of this post has been solved anyway I will just add to your previous comment.

You cant really compare the 2 hats. The Old Man is more popular than the facehugger because "reasons". There may be a lot of reasons or maybe only a couple. One reason why I would prefer the Old Man is because putting it with the All-Father + the Gift Bringer you have "Father Heavy Clause"

I like my Siberian because of the Alien reference, though I guess that would most likely be too obscure of a reason for people to like it more.

It isnt much of a reference. Aside from the name (which originally was the "Little Bundle of Joy" on the steam workshop) it holds no real resemblance to the alien franchise since there is also no Alien (franchise) film set in a Siberian wasteland.

Each to ones own but again most wont really see the reference as anything special.

Reading your trade notes, you're making this thing sound like the second coming of Christ.  Yes, it's burning, yes it's a limited hat, but so what?  If I'm in the market for a burning heavy hat (or any other god tier heavy hat) I have so many other options that are all cheaper than 300 keys or even 200 keys, and most likely below 100.

You've had this trade open for one year.  That 300 key 1st gen offer isn't coming.  Take the thing of the market for a couple of weeks to let things settle and then post it with a reasonable BO of 150.  Take this advice or not, but if you keep that trade open, you'll wait until Valve takes the servers offline to get what you think it's worth.
