Pricing an Unusual with Spell

Shining

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a Smoking Grenadier's Softcap with Rotten Orange Footprints.

Would this increase the value of the hat? By how much? From what I understand, its a pretty high tier spell. The base value of the hat is 11.5 keys.

Thanks for the help

The short answer: no. The long answer: yes.

Spells (in the bottle form) are worth so much only because they are collector items themselves. When applied, they basically lose all of their value. While the spell won't add much to the hat's value, it might make it look more attractive to a potential buyer.

And rotten orange is generally accepted as the best footprint, wouldn't surprise me if you get 14-15 keys out of it. But don't quote me on that :P

About spells, I sold many cosmetics with spells and to sell them for good price you have to some time wait very long time. I dont understand why but somehow unusuals with spells are even harder to sell with good "overpay" for spell (im even now trying to sell unu with free footprints with no results). About Rotten Orange Footprints - yes its one of best footprints (in my opinion only Headless Horseshoes is highest).

Its easier to sell unusual with footprints if they match unusual effect (like orbiting fire + Rotten Orange etc)

but yes, you probalby can take some extra keys for it.

I know from experience spells don't add anything. And often, it's not even an argument to price your hat as much as other sellers', when those are clean and yours is duped. It's something that just works on custom servers and on Halloween, so most people just don't care about them.

For unusuals where there are only a couple in the game to begin with, which are usually the first thing someone puts a spell on, it will be hard to get anything extra out of it. Much like strange parts and paint on other items, except unusuals have less than firm prices to begin with. Unless the buyer specifically wants that spell(s), which is usually not the case if they intend to flip and resell like most traders.

For other more common items like weapons, it might be easier except most sites you can't search for spells. There are people who really want spells on their items, and since they're no longer possible to apply and probably never will be again, it's something sought after. Everyone has that Festive Flamethrower, but there aren't a lot of them with Spectral Flame and/or Exorcism, so you can probably sell it for the spell alone. Same with cosmetics; if you have an all-class hat or misc with footprints, especially one that doesn't look ridiculous, people will want it just so they can have the spell. Don't expect anything higher than the hat in unusual, but if you wait long enough someone will pay extra for it. Like craft hats, it's a niche market.

I sometimes look for cheap items with spells, but I rarely ever find any, and the few times I do they're grossly overpriced so I pass them up even though I would have fairly overpaid.

alright, thanks for the advice, everyone. If i do sell, i'll just list it in the upper range of its value (13 keys) and see what kind of a response i get.

If anything it just makes it more attractive to a potential buyer, it doesn't add any extra value.

I do like having spells on my hats though so it's nice to own one that has spells.
