Thoughts on Alcohol?

Where I live we are taught that basically drinking any alcohol will turn your life into rubble.

But will drinking just one can of the cheapest beer really destroy your life?

I just want to hear your guys thoughts on if you think alcohol is bad or not.

Also I couldn't find any post related to alcohol so I made my own. Lock/merge this one if there is already one up.

Well, depending on where you live (most places), underage drinking is illegal and I wouldn't wouldn't drink underage.

Disregarding my personal opinion, drinking one can of crappy bear won't screw up your life. I think the real question is, why in the world would you want to drink a cheap and bad beer? Wait until you get a job and buy some better beer/alcohol :P

Yes, alcohol is pretty bad for you if you consume it in excess. Most things are bad for you if you consume them excessively

Nope, alcohol is great. Also try cigarettes while you are at it. But are you old enough for these things?

As with almost anything else it depends on how you use it. Personally, I drink for fun, usually with friends and family. I think most would agree that's the best way to do it. Buzzed/drunk gaming is pretty fun too imo, especially mvm, I would recommend it sometime if you can. If you drink just to get drunk or to cope with difficulties and develop a dependency, then yea you're probably going to have problems.

No, one cheap beer isn't going to hurt you, you might not even feel anything. But that isn't how it works. You don't generally have one shitty beer and quit, you may as well have a decent quality one if you're just having one. You get the shit beer because it's cheap and you want as much as you can get with your money.

If you're worried about problems there's nothing wrong with being cautious until you know how it affects you and why you want to drink at all, I was at first. But alcohol is not inherently bad.

Alcohol is a drug and producing, storing, transporting and consuming it should be illegal. It is disgusting and it makes people disgusting. Sadly it won't happen because alcohol has been known to the humanity long before laws and governments were established and as such is considered a part of the culture. Plus governments make a big and quick buck from alcohol. Same for tobacco and, can't believe I'm saying it, weed. Now let's legalize heroin, coke and meth so we'll have full party.

I don't give two shits about any of those drugs unless they or their consumers directly or indirectly affect me.

The high school I just graduated from has a crazy drinking problem.

A substantial amount of kids are always drinking, and sometimes even having house parties while their parents are still there. A lot of parents will even buy their kids beer themselves.

Worse is when kids smuggle alcohol into school activities. People always sneak beer into the football games, and it always results in fights breaking out in the audience and a couple of breathalyzer tests and fines, but they never learn.

My school had 4 dances this year and there was heavy drinking at all of them. I know a girl who had to get her stomach pumped after 3 of them, and that's crazy. Why aren't her parents stepping in and telling her to fix her life? Because they're totally okay with "just a few drinks" and ignore the problem entirely.

And then, every summer or the beginning of the school year, a couple of students die in a car crash from them driving drunk.

It's like the people at my school couldn't ever enjoy themselves without getting piss-drunk, and that's alcoholism if I've ever seen it.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I'm not soft on alcohol laws. Because my area is such a mess, I think there should be a zero-tolerance policy on underage drinking, and underage drinkers and their compliant parents should be prosecuted. The drinking age shouldn't be lowered to 18, because then high schoolers have even easier access to this shit.

I always thought more like this. I can drink but I am not going to go get pissed out drunk

Even one pill of drugs doesn't destroy your life.

Drinking 1 can doesn't ruin you, it just makes you think, wow I can do way more than this.

I went from drinking 2 cans to 5 to 7 to throwing up and going home having to explain myself to my mother.

I've then decided to make art and shit about the topic in school and there was a lot of stuff that I really liked to realize through trying to find places that alcohol is prominent in, such as religion and other social events.

I decided to use pointillism, and show how alcohol only breaks you on the inside, and not anything else; which is why I kept the background the way it was, as if it were just a regular acryllic on Masonite painting.

This is the most "I'm 13 and mommy and daddy told me no" topic Ive ever seen.

Everything is ok in moderation. Alcohol is even fine beyond moderation, but if you have an addictive personality I'd suggest against it.

I don't drink beer (cause tastes like soggy bread), but other type of alcohols I drink is when I go out and eat at a fancy restaurant. Anywhere like in house parties I would normally avoid, even if it's on my days off. One can of beer normally can go against one's idea saying "One is good for me" to "throw me another one". But no, one beer doesn't stir up anyone.

Have drugs being illegal and learning about the Prohibition (if you live in the US) taught you nothing? Of course, most drugs are bad for you, but that doesn't mean they should be illegal. I believe people should have the right to choose what they want to do to themselves, but this is just my opinion. It is a fact (basically) that people will still consume these drugs while they are illegal, this is proven by Prohibition and modern society. The main problem with people doing drugs distributed by shady people is the safety. Drugs such as marijuana and LSD should be reasonably safe, but this is not the case a lot of the time when you buy it from groups that are not regulated by government organizations, such as the FDA.

Hey I was just wondering what everyone else thought about alcohol, with me being taught since childhood that drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products are terrible and will ruin your life. I live in a pretty rural area where there are a lot of problems related to these topics

Many of them do.

As I said, they most likely would anyways, and at least they are safer while alcohol is legal.

You described prohibition. If you know anything about history, you know that didn't go over too well with people

I think, to put it a bit nicer, he means that you should take answers here with a grain of salt. The group you're asking has a significant portion of members that probably have little to no experience with alcohol.

Alcohol is so lowkey compared to heroin and meth lol. Idk if youve ever been around other groups of people than what I assume youre use to, but heroin and meth fuck people up. Heroin gives you the single best feeling you will ever experience in your life. Once you do heroin there's almost no feeling that will ever match that high. Meth is some other shit. It gives people super human strength and makes them feel invincible. Just based off those you can see why they both keep people hooked. My area has a massive heroin problem right now and I know a lot of people who have done it, 2 of them being some of my best friends right now.

Of course, alcohol gives you much different results and the ease of access makes it a go to for a lot of people. Like I said in my other post though, if you have a addictive personality you probably shouldnt be drinking much to start with. But it's always going to be there and it's just something you have to live with. Just like pot or tobacco, people are always going to have it and people are always going to consume it. If the government cant stop it they're just going to have to beat around the bush with laws for intoxication and taxes.

not drinking excessively seems to be most people's problem with it, a drink every here and there (i.e. in moderation) won't ruin/destroy you unless you're underage and are caught drinking, that may have more serious results.

one interesting thing to note, I've been told by some buddies that getting drunk and throwing up at least once can be good, at least for knowing your limits.
