And if you're part of tidal you can really only blame yourself for your songs being pirated. you're right, and because you've never personally been murdered, you shouldn't say murder is bad because look you're still alive. just because a problem doesn't affect you particularly hard doesn't mean you can't use your platform to draw attention to that problem. it's like attacking bill gates for doing charity work because he's not getting malaria. i don't think her point was to generate personal sympathy, it was to say that piracy makes establishing yourself as a full time recording artist much much harder. also streaming services like spotify have essentially given many artists the choice that you either accept almost nothing at all for the use of your material, or you actually accept nothing at all. It's not really a helpful mechanism for funding new artists. tidal is dumb in that it serves the financial interests of an already established wealthy elite of artists, but the point she makes about piracy and streaming is altogether pretty sensible. Just because you make a lot of money DOES NOT mean that you don't care about money or others. Artists don't like piracy because it basically takes money away from them right? How would you feel if someone stole money from you? In response to the one million every X amount of days, money is money, no matter who its to. So $100 to you is the same worth as $100 to Taylor. It's not made to be artistic or meaningful, it's made to be easily digestible, easy to sing along to pop music that appeals to the widest audience possible. Also people who think the isn't entitled to an opinion on piracy because she's rich, why don't you give a key to all those people who beg you for one cause you got so many of them?
