[User Script] Compare Differences Between Inventory Snapshots and More

Many are probably already familiar with my project. The purpose of this tool is primarily for speeding up the process of determining sales for Unusual items. I've kept the testing close-knit ever since I started and I've received positive affirmation of its usefulness. With its use I've been able to find sales with amazing speed and accuracy.

 

What it does is compare differences between two snapshots of the inventory at different times. Comparing items added, removed, and altered between those two points.

 

 

Requirements

• Tampermonkey (Chrome)
• Greasemonkey (Firefox)

Installation

1. Ensure that you have either Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey installed.
2. Download the script backpack.tf-historical-comparison.user.js.
3. Confirm that you want to install the script.
4. The script should now be installed and ready to use.

Suggestion Link Formatter

 

With the use of an extra script, "before and after" links within suggestions can be formatted to include a comparison parameter. This will automatically load the comparisons between both times when clicking either link. The appearance of the links in the suggestion will remain the same as if it weren't installed, but the URL it leads to will be different. This is useful for speedy proof-checking.

 

Download formatter.user.js to install it.

I have a suggestion to improve this, what if when you start to historically view a backpack, the 2 compared date boxes both go to the first date you select.  When looking for what an item sold for (for price suggestions) you usually only go back one day from the first date you selected (the day after the sale).  Because of this it would be more convenient for both of the compared dates to start out on the first date you select when starting to historically view a backpack.  That way when you click the second date to compare the 2 dates, it is already only 1 day off the most likely date for you to select.  This problem is exspecially frustrating when the sale happened 2-3 months ago and you have to scroll down a bunch to find the day right after or before the sale.

Before the suggestion itself is discussed, I want to make sure you're aware of one of the features of this script.

 

If you click on a time on the history graph, it will automatically take you to the backpack at that time. Yes, we were aware that switching between times were troublesome, thus this feature was complimented.

Thanks for the responses!!  Sorry I didn't reply sooner I don't know how to receive notification on replies from this forum yet... anyway I did not know about the graph feature until you told me about it.  Maybe you could set up a thing where if you double click on the bottom date it will set the top date to also be that date (basically doing the same thing as reloading the page as you told me above), that way if you want to stop comparing two dates you easily can, and it solves the problem I was having above.  Also maybe that same feature could work if you double click on the top date, so it would set the bottom date to be the same as the top date.

I just thought of another helpful thing that good be added to this plugin.  

What if when you set a date to view, a little box beside it tells you the price of keys and buds on that day.  When I'm doing price suggestions I have to constantly open a new tab and look at price graphs for buds or keys to see what their price was at the time of a sale.  I'm not sure how this can be implicated because I know nothing about programming, but I think it would be a helpful feature

I just thought of another helpful thing that good be added to this plugin. 

I've thought of this at one point (or The One mentioned it to me)... it's very tricky to implement and would more than likely require another page load. With buds becoming deprecated I'm not sure how necessary it'll be in the future. I might consider working out a solution for this but it probably wouldn't be anytime soon.

I'm having an issue where changing the dates after comparing two dates doesn't refresh the URL. This causes some problems suggesting with backpack histories.
