But given that people have decided to abuse the system and post huge numbers of troll suggestions, we will no longer be allowing such suggestions any day of the year. Per Brad, "if we have 10000 fake suggestions in the db, whenever you load a page trying to filter suggestions, it takes more cpu cycles to filter them out." This spam makes the website run slower. Sometimes it's important to recognize that what is not funny to you may be funny to someone else. It would be nice if everyone could just be a little bit happy when they see someone else happy. Were those troll suggestions incredibly annoying for me? Yes. They added more work for me. But I was okay with them because it made some people happy. I was temp banned 43 minutes ago. it is 8:59 here where i live so, 8:59 - 00:43 = 8:16 .... This psa was not even created for another 4 minutes.... So, i could not have known it was now against the rules. I closed all suggestions and listings within minutes of them being created, as per the 15 minute joke rule that was in place. Brad thought they weren't okay where as the public idea was that they were. Brad then convinced us that they indeed weren't okay but all people that Brad banned when it was stated to be okay have/should be unbanned. I assumed that the quantity of April fool suggestions would remain constant, but our userbase has grown so much since last year. I underestimated how many people would make silly suggestions, and didn't think of the ramifications it might have on the database or site usability. If the user was just being an idiot, I suppose it's funny, but when they're simply spamming for no reason, I can't say I ever found something like that funny. I'm surprised you ever had a policy to permit troll suggestions on special days like April first. Also calm down before you get another seven warning points, d0.
