I was thinking of upgrading my pc but I don't know what to upgrade and what to get.

Here are my current pc specs-

i7 3770k (i dunno if overclocked)

560 TI (i think its overclocked)

16GB DDR3 ram

some hard drives (they seem fine and dandy)

some crappy case (one of those shitty office computer ones)

A 1280x1024 monitor (me hate it)

400 watt psu

My budget is around £400 so im open to suggestions.

thanks if you can help- nicerafi

Would a 280 be able to run on my psu?

because i might upgrade each part at different times

Prolly not with the Core i7

Get the PSU first

Upgrade the guy, 560 is old and outdated. I7 is still usable, upgrade is you have the money. Upgrade the screen to atleast a 16:9. If you have the money, get an ssd. Finally, get a new case if you don't mind removing everything and putting it back

For actual in-game performance, I'd upgrade the GPU, PSU, and monitor. Then should you want to do any more upgrade, go with a newer/nicer case and an ssd.

Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Double Dissipation Video Card  (£275.15 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  (£46.09 @ Aria PC)
Monitor: BenQ GL2450HM 60Hz 24.0" Monitor  (£113.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £435.23
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

A 4790k is barely faster than a 3770k.

The 290x is about an inch and a half longer.

What case do you have -- are there removable drive cages in front of the gpu?

graphics card is highlighted

I'm not sure what's worse.....the potato of a camera or the case.

Anyway, you're close would either be an r9 285/gtx960/gtx970 mitx. Or upgrade the case as well.

can you recommend a case? (ima buy the graphics card later)

On the cheap, something like an NZXT Source 210 (Source 210 Elite if you want front USB 3.0 headers).

On the more expensive side, something like an NZXT S340, Corsair 330R, Fractal Design Define R5...There are a lot of choices.

Corsair, Cooler Master, NZXT, Silverstone, Bitfenix, Rosewill, and Fractal Design make most of the good cases -- so I would check their sites and figure out what you like best.
