Lollipop is great if you can actually get it on your device. Battery life improves and the ART runtime is less laggy. The problem is barely any providers have offered it, and popular custom roms like cyanogenmod haven't gotten to it yet.

So if you can get lollipop, go for it. Otherwise, kitkat (especially custom roms based off of it) is incredibly stable and usable.

I'm honestly gonna have to disagree with everything about Lollipop being good. I had it on my Nexus 5 and it was awful. Performance was absolutely terrible, battery life wasn't really improved for anybody, but a lot of people saw massive drops. I do think that some of the custom ROMs are excellent, though.

I have lollipop on my 2012 nexus 7 and it ground that thing to a halt. It ran much better under kit kat, and I liked the look of the UI more.

Moto G 2013 user, I tried lollipop 5.0.2(CM12) but I prefer kitkat because:

- Xposed frameword. No support for ART

- The phone had a huge memory leak, 'Settings' app using +150mb of RAM, launcher and apps redrawing

- Some apps aren't still optimized, but I see a boost in the FPS in games using higher quality setting (MC5, asphat 8...)

remember that I'm using an unofficial version, because the official update still hasn't arrived in latin america

Xposed is a big reason for me. And Lollipop performance was horrendous.
