The plane could've been shotdown. My question is how often does this happen? Statistically speaking, shouldn't the odds of planes going down, especially so many in such a short timespan be extremely low?

Well... given enough time, improbable things will happen, such as 3 plane crashes in a very short time span.  Buuuuuut... I suppose that doesn't make it any less unnerving.  I do have to ask, and I admit that I don't know much about the subject because I haven't been following the news about it, if it's at all possible that there could be any link between the three crashes?  It doesn't seem like there could be, but I'm throwing the question out there anyway at the risk of seeming silly.

lol i flied over russia/ukraine conflict regions a couple days before and after the plane was shot down, still alive today. thanks putin
